Photographer's Statement

My interest in photography began as a teenager after taking a class on black & white film processing and printing. Shortly thereafter, I purchased my first 35mm camera, a Mamiya Sekor MSX 1000. With a growing interest in the arts, photography became a natural extension for me to interpret my views of the world. While in college, I purchased my first Nikon camera, an F2. Today, I shoot almost exclusively in the digital format using Nikon cameras and lenses; however, I am still intrigued by the qualities and tonal range produced by film. When shooting film, I am currently using a Contax 645 medium format camera.

Over the years my photographic subject matter has varied. I like to photograph a wide range of subjects found in nature and everyday life. Almost any subject can make an excellent image if presented in an interesting or creative composition. Clearly, I am drawn to nature and sports photography.

I have attempted to capture unique moments and views of the world around me. Photography is a form of visual expression. It has taken me on what I call my “Vision Quest” in search of special moments in time and how I saw them. This web site and the images contained within are the result of my “Vision Quest”. I hope those visiting this site find the images to be memorable and visually rewarding.

As you browse my online gallery, please feel free to contact me about the purchase of any of the images that interest you. I also photograph events. Those images can be viewed and ordered online by clicking on the “Order” icon.
